Coach April Farr enters her fifth year as an assistant varsity softball coach, including her second at Blythewood High School.

Farr was previously the assistant coach at Spring Valley High School from 2003-05. While there she was part of three Region Championships, three District Championships, and three upper/lower state runner-up finishes. During her first year at Blythewood, the Bengals won the Region IV Championship.

Born in West Columbia, S.C., Farr attended Brookland-Cayce High School where she was a multi-sport star. Farr earned four varsity letters each in softball and basketball. She excelled at short stop and pitcher, leading the Bearcat softball team to a cumulative 85-18 record, the 1989 4A State Championship, a 1992 State 4A runner-up finish, and three conference titles. She earned All-Region, All-Area, and All-State honors in each of her four years, and selected to play in the North/South All-Star game her senior year. Farr was also selected as the 1992 Region III-4A player of the year. As a pitcher her senior year, she posted a 25-5 record with a 1.45 ERA and 175 strikeouts.

In basketball, she was the first B-C player in history to top the 1,000 point plateau for her career. She also earned All-Region, All-State, and All-Area honors in three out of her four years.

After graduating from Brookland-Cayce in 1992, Farr earned a softball scholarship to the University of South Carolina and played three infield positions for the Lady Gamecocks from 1993-1996. As a four year starter, she was voted the team's Best Defensive Player in 1993, first team All-Southeast Region in 1996 and finished with a .300 career batting average.

In 2000, The State newspaper selected her as the 3rd most accomplished South Carolina High School Female Athlete-of-the-Decade. On October 31, 2003, Farr was inducted into the Brookland-Cayce High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Farr graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from USC in 1997 and has worked as an Exercise Physiologist for Columbia Heart since 1999. Farr resides in Chapin where she enjoys spending time with her family and six dogs.
