Welcome to the Blythewood High School JROTC Bengal Battalion Website!

The beginning of secondary education in Blythewood can be traced back to the early 1900s. Originally, The quaint town had two schools; they were closed, and the students were all transferred over to Spring Valley High School in 1970. Three years ago with the opening of the New Blythewood High School the legacy began. From that day our legacy has continued.

Initially our ROTC program was scheduled to be aligned with the Marine Corps JROTC. Over the past three years our Battalion has grown tremendously with upwards of 300 cadets enrolled this year. In order to accommodate these numbers SFC Frank Bell was hired to assist both LTC White and SGM Yturria with everyday instruction and coaching of the special teams.

Committed to the mission of “Motivating Young People To Be Better Citizens,” our cadets have participated in numerous community events. This includes: road side cleanup for the 2 miles of road in front of the school, Veteran of Foreign Wars Buddy Poppy Flower Collection, several performances by our drill team and color guard, an appearance on “Live With Lucas”, and successful battalion inspection where we earned the classification of Honor Unit With Distinction.
